The Zhao lab is an interdisciplinary lab studying brain structure and functions. We combine RNA biology, chemical biology, technology development, and neuroscience.
Our research aims to answer the question: How does the brain’s connection diagram underlie its function? Essentially, how do the brain's wiring patterns help explain how the brain works?
Our research is centered around the development and application of new and advanced technologies. These are needed to map brain wiring and combine it with genetic and protein data to understand how the brain works and changes over time. By incorporating information about which genes and which proteins are active in each brain area, we can have a better understanding of why these molecular changes occur. This ultimately allows us to understand the brain in a deep and detailed way.
Our Principal Investigator is Boxuan Zhao.
