Science (Washington, D.C., Oct. 18) – A new study suggests that changes to the expression of a single gene could determine which bees are solitary and which are social. Gene Robinson, a behavioral genomicist and the director of the U. of I.’s Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, says the next step is to figure out how the genes in his study of honey bees affect brain development and function. See more
