Faculty in the News, Dominika Pindus, Assistant Professor, Kinesiology & Community Health

In this time of quarantine and home confinement, many have experienced reduced activity and a more sedentary lifestyle.  A Neuroscience Program faculty member, Dominika Pindus oversaw a study that looked at the links between sitting for prolonged periods and cognitive functions on adults and children.  The study was published in the International Journal of Obesity.  In this study, one finding was that there was a negative affect on attention span and great susceptibility to distraction based on their prolonged sedentary activities.  For a list of activities to combat negative cognitive functions, read the Eat This, Not That! article.
