The Memory Systems Lab uses converging cognitive neuroscience methods to study the nature and the organization in the brain of human learning and memory. We conduct neuropsychological studies of patients with memory disorders, together with functional neuroimaging, human electrophysiological, and eye-tracking studies, as well as computational modeling of memory.
Work in our lab has been instrumental in identifying and characterizing multiple memory systems in the brain that support different aspects of performance, with an emphasis on the hippocampus and its critical role in relational (declarative) memory.
We have also pioneered the development of novel methods and paradigms for assessment of different aspects and forms of memory in various populations, across the lifespan and in response to exercise, nutritional, and cognitive interventions.
