Biography

Izan Chalen is a neuroimmunologist focused on how the immune system contributes to the etiology of neurological disease. During his doctoral research at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he investigated how maternal immune activation affects fetal neurodevelopment. As a postdoctoral researcher in the Antonson Developmental Neuroimmunology Laboratory, he uses animal models and molecular approaches to explore the brain–gut interface in neurodevelopment.
