I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. I earned a BA with majors in Psychology and Biology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, which is a small school strongly committed to the value of a liberal arts education. I went on to do a PhD from the University of Illinois in the Cognitive Neuroimaging Lab, co-directed by Dr. Gabriele Gratton and Dr. Monica Fabiani, where I did research on the relationship between vascular function and cognitive health in normal aging using primarily magnetic resonance imaging and diffuse optical imaging for non-invasive measures of the neurovascular structure and function. Now I am working to extend my research on neurovascular function to clinical samples and to more deeply study interactions between vascular health in the brain and mechanisms of cognitive control.
